ABOUT ME


WHO AM I?

I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a certified Dance Movement Therapist. I currently maintain a private practice in Bay Harbor. I provide individual and group counseling and movement therapy to children, adolescents, men, women, and families in both English and Spanish.


MY THERAPEUTIC STYLE

My goal is to inspire change in your life, whether it is the relationship you have with yourself or someone else, such as a child, parent, or spouse. I focus on building your strengths not just analyzing problems. Together we will explore solutions that are practical and effective. I have a warm, engaging and collaborative style of working. One of my greatest assets as a therapist is my ability to connect with my clients in a way that allows you to make the positive changes that you want. I am very skilled in engaging my clients in a way that makes them feel comfortable, safe as well as inspired and motivated to reach their goals.


MY BACKGROUND

I also work as the Life Management Therapist for a renowned integrative health and wellness center in Miami Beach, where I conduct individual, couples and family psychotherapy for brief and long-term clients, facilitate weekly psycho-educational lectures and collaborate with other health practitioners in Guest Health Packages including Stress Management, Optimal Wellness, Men's & Women's Health, and Executive Health.Sofi Matz Finally, I serve on the Board of Directors for Integrative Change, Inc. a health and wellness professional organization in South Florida. In this leadership position, I assist the Founder in the selecting new members, planning and organizing member events, and in strategic planning and consultation.

I earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and in Exceptional Student Education from Barry University. Prior to this, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from New World school of the Arts. After completing my second masters program, I enrolled in the American Dance Movement Therapy Association Alternate Route Program earning their National Registry. After seven years as a professional Dance Movement Therapist, I became a Board Certified Dance Movement Therapist offering private counseling, as well as group sessions and workshops.

I have worked as a Mental Health Counselor and Social Skills Director at a private school, where I provided intervention and preventative counseling services to individual students, groups, and parents. I developed, implemented and led social skills and dance movement therapy groups for first to sixth grades students. I also consulted with the Head of School in the creation of in-service professional development for our faculty as a means of teaching our professionals to better teach the "whole child".

In addition to my private practice, I have been a guest speaker for various national and international organizations, conducting lectures and workshops in private and social settings.
