Coaching
Personal development does not come about by attending a leadership seminar or gaining proficiency in certain technical skills. Development happens when we consciously increase our capacity to change and adapt as we move through life. This ability to change and adapt as we go, to learn from our experiences, is what we call learning agility.
As coaches, our goal is to cultivate this "meta-competency" in all of our clients.
The Process
We take our clients through a five-step coaching process:
Step 1: Assessment
Quality feedback is one of the most critical components of personal growth. Each individual completes Voices® 360˚ Feedback and other elected assessments, such as The Birkman®. This gives the learner an idea of how he or she is perceived by peers, direct reports, customers, and bosses - providing the first step in the development process.
Step 2: Analysis and Feedback
A Friedman Group coach will review the assessment results and share the data with the learner in a private coaching session. Each client will also receive access to a personal webpage called myPortfolio, where all assessment results and developmental material will be stored.
Step 3: Building a Development Plan
Based on the assessment results, and with the use of Lominger's FYI Plans Online, the client and a Friedman Group Coach will construct a development plan based upon two or three main change goals.
Step 4: Act and Track
Through the use of our e-Coaching technology, each client will be able to update his or her goals online. This involves logging in to our e-Coaching site and giving monthly updates regarding goal status, actions taken, actions planned, and lessons learned. Through this technology, clients can ask for feedback from coaches and managers, as well as obtain new and relevant ideas for working toward their change goals.
Step 5: Completion
The client will have one final coaching session to measure accomplishments and set the course for ongoing development. Clients give one final report-out on lessons learned. All coaching and assessment material is retained by the client via myPortfolio.
The Tools
Voices® Multi-Rater 360˚ Feedback
The Voices® 360˚ feedback is a competency-based, research-validated assessment that provides learners with a powerful tool for development and improvement. The 360˚ feedback reveals:
- How a learner's job behaviors are perceived by others.
- Which of these behaviors are considered important for success.
- How the ratings from others compare to his or her self-ratings.
- Where a learner is seen as successful and where he or she needs to develop.
FYI For Your Improvement? Plans Online
Lominger's popular FYI book has gone virtual! With FYI online, clients are able to draw from Lominger's research-based library of development tips, action items, and remedies to create personalized development plans.
e-Coaching is the web-based technology we use to follow individuals through the personal development process. This tool allows individuals to update and track progress on their development plan, access developmental tips and suggested action items, and ask for feedback from managers and coaches.
This technology allows clients to monitor their own progress, verify results, and obtain prompt and relevant feedback as they progress toward reaching their goals.
